Success stories!

Here are some of our success stories!  These are pets who found a new home thanks to the Safety Net.

Buddy: March 2015

Buddy was posted to the Safety Net in March 2015 when his family could no longer care for him due to a difficult financial situation.  One of our former volunteers, Penny, heard about Buddy’s plight and scooped him right up!  Thanks, Penny!

Coco: February 2015

Coco was initially posted in February 2015 when her owner could no longer care for her while living in an assisted living facility.  This little 11-year-old was facing an uncertain future and her owner was very worried that she would end up in a shelter.  A woman and her mom saw our Safety Net, reached out to the owner, and found out that Coco would be the perfect new addition to their family!  Coco is very happy in her new home, and her former owner is happy to know that she is with a new loving family.

Gunter: January 2015

Gunter was introduced to the Safety Net in January 2015.  This handsome 13-year old was facing an uncertain future, because a young child in the owner’s home developed an allergy.  Coincidentally, one of our volunteers, Erica, had an empty house after the passing of her beloved dog Emerson.  She and and her significant other Eric saw Gunter’s picture in the Safety Net and realized he was meant to be their new dog!  Gunter is making himself at home in his new digs and he’s as sweet as he looks!

Floyd: November 2014

Floyd was listed on our Safety Net in November 2014.  He ended up in a shelter in Virginia because his family had broken up.  He did not do well in the shelter as a 13-year-old, sight-impaired dog who was used to a quiet home. The shelter in Virginia had two inquiries for further information as the result of the Safety Net, and a donation was made in his name by one of those individuals!  Floyd found a forever home in less than a month and is happy with his new family.

Cocoa and Cole: October 2014

Cocoa and Cole were initially posted on our Safety Net in April 2014.  The two terriers were fostered at the Sanctuary for Homeward Trails as part of the Buster’s Buddies foster program.  We put out word of their need for a forever home on the Safety Net, but several months went by and they still had not found their new home.  In October, their forever family appeared!  Jayme and Joe are now the proud new parents of Cocoa and Cole.

McKenzie: June 2014

McKenzie was posted on the Safety Net when his family could no longer care for him due to several health issues.  He was not able to be left at home all day while the owners worked, and no one was available to care for him during work hours.  A Safety Net Counselor recommended contacting a Pekingese foster organization in the area.  The family contacted the organization and McKenzie found a new home!  The family thanked the Counselor for helping to find him a home where he could get the care he needed.

Lola: June 2014

Lola was posted on our Safety Net because her longtime owners moved out of the country, and her relatives were no longer able to care for Lola.  She was in need of costly medical care and her caretakers eventually had to put her in a shelter.  One of our volunteers, Nancy, was the Safety Net Counselor for Lola when we received her give-up form.  Our amazing Nancy couldn’t bear to see Lola in the shelter, and made room in her heart and home for this sweet little pup.  She picked her up from the Montgomery County Shelter and brought her back to her new forever home!

Irie: April 2014

Irie was posted on our Safety Net when his family was no longer able to care for him and contacted House with a Heart to help.   Through the Safety Net emails, a supporter of the Sanctuary found out about Irie’s need for a new home.  She wanted to add to her family in part because of a recent loss of a beloved pet.  She got in touch with Irie’s family and it was a match made in heaven!  She recently took Irie home and told us that he is doing great and getting along well with the rest of her family.  Thanks to the Safety Net, Irie has a new loving forever home!

Tryna: March 2014

Tryna was originally posted on our Senior Pet Safety Net in March.  Unfortunately, her owners could not keep her because they were moving.  We re-posted Tryna in April when no one had stepped forward to take her.  Tryna’s dad started taking her to work every day and one of his co-workers fell in love with her… and adopted her!  Tryna is now in a home with four other dogs, on one acre of land, and happy as can be!

Annabelle: December 2013

Annabelle was posted on our Safety Net in December 2013.  Her owner was moving out of the country and was worried that Annabelle would not be able to handle the quarantine and the move.  An HWAH supporter found this sweet 14-year-old girl on our Senior Pet Safety Net, and now Annabelle has a new loving home!
